CONTEMPORARY HEAVY MACHINEGUNS

A machine gun is rated heavy when it cannot be carried and operated by a single man. The most common fire team is three men, one for the weapon itself, one for the mount and the last for ammo... The class can be extended to all machineguns with a recoil too powerful (because of caliber or rate of fire) to be controlable without a mount. Generally those weapons are mounted on military vehicules, in bunkers or on a tripod for defense or cover. But in 2020 cybernetically-enhanced troops and linear frame drastically extended the realm of what can be carried and operated by a single man...
Any of those weapons is one of the worst things a character can meet. An opponent firing during five rounds a bunch of bullets, each of them able to go through a car or cut a man in half should be a rare encouter. This class of weapon, extremely heavy, expensive and illegal is rarely seen outside of the military field.

Browning M2HB

The M2HB features a heavy barrel and an improved .50 cal round, improving accuracy and power. The gun can only be fired from a tripod or pintle mount, because of its weight. It is a cumbersome weapon, but has tremendous firepower.

This weapon is so heavy it must be used on a heavy mount featuring two wheels to facilitate movement. Can be easily converted to an anti-aircrat weapon.

The KPV is one of the heaviest HMGs ever made. It comes close to being called a light autocannon it is so large. Is a very reliable anti-aircraft MG, but performs well on vehicular mounts or battlefield tri or bipods.

This heavy MG was deigned by ST Kinetics of Singapore to replace old M2HB in service with Singapore military. The STK .50 features quick changeable barrel with fixed headspace and a dual feed system (left or right, selectable) for quick change of type ammunition fired.
