Submachine guns are handguns capable of firing in automatic mode ligth ammo, generally designed for pistols. They appeared after WWI. it's between the hands of cops and gangsters that they became famous. World war II made their use common in a military purpose. The submachine gun became, before the assault rifle, the favourite weapon of the infantry man in contact with ennemy, who can only rely on the high rate of fire and the low dimensions of his weapon in an narrow environnement. Until the end of the century, submachine guns spread throughout security forces, especialy in dangerous situations. Elite groups like SWAT frequently use this kind of weapon, which fits well to situations where saving the life of the opponent is no longer a priority.

FN P90 | ||
The FN P90 is a lightweight and practical weapon designed for supporting and logistics personnel, although some special forces units have chosen to adopt it as well. It fires a unique 5.7mm round designed for extreme high-velocity preformance. It has excellent armour-piercing capability, but its recoil is surprisingly very minimal. Controlls are designed to be easily accesable by the soldier, either right or left handed users, as the the spent rounds are ejected out the bottom. The magazine runs along the top and is tranparent, allowing the remaining bullets to be easily checked. Screw-on surpressors are available. |
