Although ACPA (Assisted Combat Powered Armor) is a relatively new technology, several companies are already producing suits for military and corporate use. Presented here are some PAs from major manufacturers that are now hitting the market. These listings reflect the basic suits as they come from the factory, and, as with any expensive and prestigious vehicle, there are always numerous options which may be added (for an additional charge, of course).
Arasaka Bandit | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Arasaka loves its Kamikaze class of chassis. The Kamikaze class is similar in appearance to that of the Militech Highwayman, although much stronger. The Bandit acts as a ligth assault ACPA although with the addition of heavy armament it can take on different roles, such as support and urban pacification. Arasaka seells these primarily to English and American military forcese, as well as to Australia and Japan's own SDF. Equipment carried : |
Arasaka Drift | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Still in testing, Arasaka is hoping the drift will win the military contract to upgrade the Seals and Green Berets Hardsuits. To date, this is Arasaka's most armored hardsuit yet. |
Arasaka K-11 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
There are as many versions of the K-11 as can be imagined, this is Arasaka's most basic ACPA and is sold to virtually every military and country in the world. Unarmed and unarmored versions of this suit are also sold to corporations and construction crews. From left to right : the first suit is equipped with dual 4 shot LATGM pods, a targeting laser, thrust jets, a BCF-3 fletch cloud, and is carrying two Arasaka 1 cm railguns. The middle K-11 is equiped with a complete sensor/communications suite, thrust jets, and is carrying an Arasaka Gods Wrath 40 mm auto-GL (shots : 100, ROF : 1/3/25). The last K-11 is equipped with dual 72-shot rotary micro-missile pods, an IFAR-6 pod, and has 12.7mm gatling guns installed in the forearms. |
Arasaka K-14 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
An upgrade to the K-11, it does everything the older suit can do, but is lighter and comes automatically equipped with .50 caliber machineguns in the forearms. Equipment carried : |
Arasaka LM-1 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Arasaka's first Landmate design, built specifically for police duty, it has since been replaced by more modern suits, but you can still find them around. Popular with mercenaries on a budget and all over the black market. Control arms, SP/SDP : 48/6. |
Arasaka LM-2 G-Standard
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Responding to consumer feedback from both commercial and military markets, Arasaka has made available the Guges-Standard. The suit either comes bare boned for 100000 eb or you can have Arasaka custom build it to your specifications. Orders for this model pour in like fire, especially since it is also available on the civilian market, and the only requirement to buy it is a Class A Linear Frame liscense. This landmate is a gearheads dream come true as it allows him to customize and tinker to his hearts delight. Control arms, 1 space each (internal and external), SP/SDP : 25-40/5. |
Arasaka LM-5 Big Brother
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Built on a custom Guges chassis specifically for the US, the Arasaka Big Brother is the ultimate in battlefield surveillance. Not meant for direct combat, the LM-5's job is to sneak into position and hide, gathering intel by radar and communications interception on enemy positions. Now while the idea of a military ACPA without any installed weapons at all may seem to be missing the point, the Big Brother is very good at its job. It doesn't have the range of an airborne electronics surveilance platform, but it can go into places no one else can get to, and loiter indefinately, by shutting down all suit systems but active recon. Rumor has it Arasaka keeps a few of these back themselves for corporate espionage reasons, but this cannot be confirmed. Control arms, SP/SDP : 40/5. |
Arasaka LM-6 Bladerunner
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
While normal cops, SWAT and Riot Control get the Arasaka Constable, C-SWAT needs something with a little more "oomph". They get the Bladerunner. The Bladerunner is built on a slightly stronger chassis, the Guges-G, which still isn't as powerful as the Guges-H military combat model used for the Kurosawa. However, this suit boasts more than enough power to stop almost any threat an officer might find himself involved in. Using the tried and true Guges type Landmate design and Datasuit interface as well as Arasaka's VRI, this suit is fast and lethal, and it has plenty of room left in the arms and legs for customization. In addition to C-SWAT duties, this ACPA is also quite popular in mercenary circles. Control arms, SP/SDP : 40/6. |
Arasaka LM-A9 SEAL | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Arasaka's answer to the Militech Catfish. The SEAL is lighter, faster and stronger, although it is more lightly armed and is not quite as stealthy. Still the majority of Navy SEAL prefer the SEAL due to its ability to be as effective on land as in the water. It also accepts a flight unit making it a true Sea, Air and Land assault machine. Like the Catfish, the SEAL is of a landmate style, and it too has learned the trick of Bom Wire Obstacles in water against fleshies. Control arms, SP/SDP : 50/5. |
Arasaka Pakrat | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Arasaka recently introduced this ACPA, whose purpose on the battlefield is simple. The PAKRAT (Powered Armor Killing Assault Trooper) was designed to destroy other ACPA and light armored targets. This machine is slow, heavy and cumbersome, but it boasts an amazing amount of firepower. |
Arasaka Satyr | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Satyr is a new design in testing from Arasaka. The main goal seems to be in experimenting with Arasaka's new "Goat" leg extensions, which allow the suit to leap twice the distance it's chassis would normally allow. They are also experimenting with a cyberleg version. If trials are succesful both this suit and the cybernetic option will go on sale later this year, as of yet, no military has expressed interest in them, but it is garnering a lot of attention in the combat challenge circles. |
Arasaka Wardog | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
While the Warhawk and Wareagle are in limited use by all branches of the US military, they are too expensive for even minor widespread distribution to special forces and are relegated to mission specific duty where flight is a necessity. The Wardog is much more cost effective, and thus has served as the standard hardsuit used by the Navy Seals and the Army's Green Berets for years now. |
Bumar Warrior Hussar | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is the combat model of the Hussar hardsuit. It has been upgraded with weaponry, boasts heavier armor, and all the useless decoration removed. This version is in wide use by polish and eastern european military and police, and is sold all over the world. Equipment carried : |
Chinese Gartham | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A more combat capable version of the Helldiver boasting better arms and armor, the standard military combat ACPA. |
Chinese Helldiver | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This suit, manufactured in China, is perhaps larger than it should be although it does have several free spaces left for customization. China sells this suit to many third world nations that can't afford any better. |
Chinese Mulan | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is is one of the few hardsuits produced by the Chinese military. It is comparable to the Arasaka Warhawk although it is of lesser quality. Other than the missile racks on the wings there are no built in weapon systems for the Mulan, the working philosophy being the trooper can carry whatever he needs, no sense weighing down the suit and hampering its flight ability. |
Chinese Stormtrooper | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Similar is function to Arasaka's K-11 series of ACPA, the Chinese Stormtrooper armor is the standard power armor of the Chinese military forces and comes standard with no weapons or defense systems installed. Mission specific armament is equipped and this suit is China's best selling ACPA. Anything from 30 mm cannons to 12 ga. gatling guns are available for carried weapons and installed systems range is near infinite. |
Dornier Legionnaire | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A support hardsuit from France, proudly serving the EDF forces. The 40 mm grenade launcher is often exchanged for a 10 mm MG. Equipment carried : |
Dynalar Enyalius | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A standard suit from Dynalar, comes with no options installed whatsoever. For its strength rating, this is the cheapest suit on the market. It has no military contract, but does do fairly well selling individual units to people who want to build their own hardsuit from scratch. |
Dynalar-United Nations Peacekeeper
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The United Nations commisioned the Peacekeeper Hardsuit for their troops to aid in protecting its troops during police actions and other high risk duties. While fairly basic, the suit is fully sealed from biological and chemical warfare, a must in todays terrorist ridden world. |
ESA-Orbital Air Starfire
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
ESA orbital combat ACPA, comes with plenty of spaces left open for customization. This is the premiere suit of the ESA, and it also serves to guard its ground bourne facilities with suits covered in chrome, and gold colors in much the same way, and for the same reason as the Arasaka Yojimbo. |
GKN Brittanic | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Brittanic is the heavy assault/support version of the Uther. Heavier armor and massive firepower make it a force to be feared on the battlefield, and it still has plenty of spaces for mission specific outfitting. Equipment carried : |
GKN Uther | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This hardsuit design was created specifically for the British Special Air Service branch of the EDF. Much stronger and better protected than the Charon. |
Honda OLF-5 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Not an ACPA, but a linear frame designed specifically for orbital and low gravity work. Magnetic boots and thrusters aid it in EVA duty, and it comes with a full tool suites enabling it to perform any maintenence, repair, or construction task given it. |
IEC Aardvark | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
IEC has developed this suit as a heavy labor model. Its arms are modular, with quick change mounts to accommodate a vast variety of purposes inculding heavy and light tool suites, forklift style arms, heavy rivet drivers, high power fluid cannons, heavy welding, and virtually any other use you can come up with. The suit is fully sealed so is ideal for use in any environment, from underwater to biohazard and chemical spills. The cak harness mounting also accommodate either a swimmer unit, a very heavy winch and grapple unit, or a multi-tude of other task specific packs. Sold to corporations and construction crews all over the world. |
IEC Bishop | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
IEC's most basic suit, comes standard with no weapons and minimal electronics and options. Customization is recommended. This is a light, relatively lightly armored suit, good thing its cheap. |
Mars Giana | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A basic suit from australia's premiere military/heavy equipment and aircraft producer. The suit comes standard virtually unarmed, and is equipped to the buyers needs. Please note that this is a very high quality suit, and is comparable to anything produced in Japan, Europe or the States. |
Mexican Metals Loco | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
While this is more of a hardsuit, it is just big enough to make it into the ACPA listing. This is quite possibly the single cheapest suit of powered armor you can buy on the military assault scale. The only export this suit has is to even worse off third world coutries than Mexico, with Africa being its prime target. |
Mexican Metals Toro | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This suit, manufactured in Mexico, is perhaps larger than it should be although it does have several free spaces left for customization. Mexico sells this suit to many third world nations that can't afford any better. |
Militech Catfish | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Militech has used this Landmate design to create their NAVY SEAL specific "Catfish" ACPA. While in appearance it is short, fat, and ugly it is the most succesfull of all conventional underwater suits of powered armor in the world. It is almost as effective on land as it is at sea. The suit is mostly used for scuttling enemy ships and subs, and it is extremely effective at neutralizing enemy divers. In fact the Catfish has a very nasty trick when it comes to enemey divers, it uses bom wire obstacles to ensare the enemy. The wires are virtually invisible underwater and will entangle a diver in moments, if the diver is not freed he will most likely drown as he slowly sinks to the bottom and his air supply runs out. The Catfish is also the testbed for the new Whalesong sonar baffling system. The Whale song takes up 1/2 space and emits recorded whale songs to foil an enemy, the fat subby shape of the Catfish resembles a killer whales sonar signature on most sonar screens allowing it to get right up to a sub and plant explosives. The Catfish is also notable as the only Militech suit that uses Landmate technology. Apparently they got it into production before Arasaka or Guges (the joint patent holders) could intervene. Control arms, SP/SDP : 30/6. |
Militech Cheetah | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Built on the Strider chassis, the Cheetah is designed for speed, light armor and virtually no attached weapon systems mean this ACPA is one of fastest movers in the category, and its thrust rockets give it incredible leaping ability. This suit is truly a force to be reckoned with when someone with "Corvette" or "Speeding Bullet" cyberlegs is driving. Equipment carried : |
Militech Destroyer | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
One of Militechs heavy assault suits, manufactured for the US armed forces. This suit hefts a virtual arsenal, and is capable of dealing with nearly any threat it encounters. The flip up missile pods make it a bit top heavy at times, but ensure it can hold its own against enemy air support. Equipment carried : |
Militech Heinlein | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Heinlein is a patrol/light assault ACPA from militech, built on their highwayman chassis. Very similar to the Commando which shares the same chassis design, and is intended to fill an even more generic role as a front line combat suit. It is less expensive and far more customizable, and thus perfect for the infantry. Equipment carried : |
Militech Mamba | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Mamaba is a front line suit designed by Militech. The Mamba is a general workhorse of the US military, and equipment and armament may vary greatly depending on the mission it is being assigned, the above stats are standard outfitting. Equipment carried : |
Militech Orbital Commando
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Due to the escalation of forces and increasing tension in orbit, the USAF commissioned Militech to design a version of its commando suit for orbital use. |
Mitsubishi Enforce | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
While the Racer-X doesn't see much use outside of Japan, it's big brother the Enforce certainly does. Used by European and Australian SWAT equivalents, this more powerful and better armored suit beats metal gear six ways to sunday. |
Mitsubishi Racer-X | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
No, this isn't a hard suit, this is power assisted moto-cross armor. Originally it was built for police, but outside of Japan very few police departments utilize it. However it is extremely popular with nomads, bike racers and even on the black market as combat wear. |
Nadesico Aestevalis | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Nadesico is new to the field of Powered Armor manufacture, and represent kind of a rebellion in the field, when top designers from Arasaka, Militech, Dynalar and Raven met at a product convention and decided to throw off the shackles of their former masters and go into business for themselves. Their first entry in the field so far is the Aestevalis, and generic enough suit made special due to the fact that they will equip it to the customers demands, any demands. The tread driven Skaters are a nice innovation, they are only half the maximum speed of normal powered skaters, but since they don't need to retract they only take up half a space, and they can be set to free roll when the jets are enabled or when moving down hill. Any customizations or additions to the armor will be made, and if the technology does not exist, the folks at Nadesico will do whatever they can to try an fascimilate it. Needless to say the breakaway did not endear them to their former employers, and it is rumored the head designers now all have prices on their heads. |
Orbital Air Ultimate | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Just to see how well it would work, Orbital Air installed laser weapons in its newest hardsuit design. So far their are no reports of it in combat, but with Orbital Air, secrets are to be expected. The suit itself is very high tech, High strength and armor at half the weight one would expect, and its crammed with gadgets. The price tag is high, but it's irrelevant since OA doesn't sell these, not even to the EDF. |
Orbital Air-Raven Hercules
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Hercules is a heavy ACPA commonly used by EDF allied forces. The version shown is the basic model without any added weapons or features. The basic model also features a large removable back mounted cargo trunk, which can be replaced with a variety of other options. Equipment carried : |
Orbital Air-Raven Microcyb Orguss
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A heavily armored, although relatively lightly armed hardsuit design serving the EDF. It is also fairly inexpensive. Designed with a built in parafoil the Orguss was originally developed with airdrop operations in mind. |
Raven Microcyb Charon | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is the suit used by EDF special forces and covert intelligence groups. Some claim that this is the armor worn by EDF death squads operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo. |
Raven Microcyb-Orbital Air Saracen
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Almost small enough to be considered a hardsuit, but not quite. This small, sleek and ultimately stealthy ACPA is used widely by EDF special forces. Underarmed against even normal personel, this suit is for quick hit and run targets, getting in and out as silently as possible. The EDF probably should have gone with a hardsuit, but they wanted the higher strength this chassis provides. |
Russian Arms Kobold | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Russian standard infantry hardsuit design, a bit stronger and more heavily armored than most hardsuits, this model is tough, resiliant and more than measures up to any competition. |
Russian Arms Ogre | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A Russian ACPA, lightly armed but still impressive. Used mostly as an anti-personel machine. Russia sells these to China as well as to the EDF. |
Russian Arms Tribal | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Apparently the Russians had a lot of Cossack class linear frames sitting around when they came upon this fit of brilliance. Instead of developing a fully enclosed, streamlined ACPA, they devided to just slap the minimal amount of armor plating on and attach two gatling guns to the mix. Oddly enough they sell like crazy, especially in the third world and to mercenaries. China even buys them, supposedly loading the guns with rubber bullets, for use as crowd control. |
Shinjuku BDM-2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A medium sized ACPA developed for Tokyo's equivalent of SWAT. Lightly armed but featuring an innovative 7.62 mm machinegun that fits over the mechs hand, attaching snugly. Equipment carried : |
Shinjuku Explorer | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
NASA/USAF's all purpose ACPA, used mostly for construction and repair work on the lunar surface and in orbit. |
Shinjuku-Arasaka LM-8 Kurosawa
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Shinjuku Heavy Industries in cooperation with Arasaka, recently unveiled their newest addition to their line of ACPA, the Kurosawa. Currently the Kurosawa is under a limiting contract, and these suits are only sold to the US military forces and the Japanese SDF. In both these instances the Kurosawa is slowly phasing out other suits as the main battle ACPA. The Kurasawa comes lightly equiped and is meant to be outfitted for every mission individually. Control arms, SP/SDP : 48/6. Equipment carried : |
Wanderlust Industries Abominable Snowman
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Designed by wanderlust specifically for arctic exploration, this suit can go a week of constant use before needing its powercells replaced. It's feet extend out wide for better weight dispersal on the snow, and its hands and feet are equipped with climbers allowing the suit to scale sheer ice and rock surfaces. If that werent enough, the suit has a built on large storage compartment, capable of fitting two full grown men as long as they don't mind getting really cozy. When powered down for rest, the suit can run a small built in heating unit on an extension cord almost indefinitely without draining the suits, allowing you to sleep in a heated tent. In case the suit happens to fall through the ice, it is equipped with self inflating and deflating floatation bags (1 space). The Snowman is also the single most comfortable ACPA ever built in terms of roominess and long term piloting. While the suit was built specifically for use in remote cold weather locations, it has become extremely popular with explorers in jungle climates and mountainous areas as well. Nomads love this suit, and it is in high demand in the nomad community. |
